I was going to tell you something.
But then you smiled sheepishly at my frown; and some kids shouted, distracting me.
You talk about politics, articulately, and joke about your professor, the one with the vest, while taking a sip from my take-away tea. I start wondering how it came to be, that I always wear the earrings you like, that I never laugh at Star Trek anymore, and your favourite colour suddenly is green (like mine).
I succumb to studying the part of your hair that sticks up at the back, and stealing a bite from your blueberry muffin.

On Love, In Distance
Dear Eve,
I wish I could blame this on alcohol. I wish I could blame this on drugs. I wish I could blame this on the media and violent videogames and ignorant music like what your little brother listens to.
And I dont know how seriously you take my words,
But the truth is I can only blame you and me (us I guess it could be called) for what we say and do and dance to and steal. Thick as thieves. In the thick of it. Thick skulled.
I think there would be no question about feelings if I spent even a minute more at your side on the couch, maybe just watching the news, the dog on his bed snoring tragic, paper-thin dreams of ca

2. Love
i. Your starshine kisses
taste of forever and your
sunset smiles speak of never
[never be alone].
ii. We are separated by
ten-thousand deaths and three
inches and we will never be
[if we don't try].
iii. The ocean of us will have
a bottom, dear; everything does
and we will reach it someday.
[Maybe it will take a lifetime to reach.]
iv. We will live immortal in the
creases of joined hands and
whispered smiles. We will exist
in held breaths and shared secrets.
[We will always be |us|.]
v. I am a sunflower,
and you are my sun.
[I will always need you.]

Love Is...
Love is to trust
To believe and to hold
Love is to long for
To shape and to mould
Love is to forgive
For feelings to flow
Love is to hold on
And to let go
Love is to smile
To smirk and to glitter
Love is to laugh
To swirl and to flitter
Love is to dance
To twirl and to sing
Love is to jump
To sway and to swing
Love is to rest
To lie and be at ease
Love is to reminisce
And make time freeze
Love is to move on
To forgive and forget
Love is to stay strong
And never fret
Love is you
And love is me
Love is what we share
And what's keeping us free

oh and you have to imagine two people on a bench, in their early twenties, in a park. At least that's how I imagine it.
