About damn time, wasn't it?

  • Listening to: Just Jack - The day I died.
  • Reading: Wizard of the Crow

:bulletorange: It's officially autumn, fall, coldfoggyalmostsnowylovelybirthdayseason .. or whatever you want to call it. Finally. Very obviously my favourite season. I'd even name my daughter (if I ever have one) Autumn if I didn't think it was a rather ominous name to give to an infant.
Anyone who's started following me recently might enjoy reading my old deviantion about summer [link] to understand why I'm so thrilled about fall. Whee!

:bulletgreen: I put my shoutbox back up, give me a shout so they aren't all from -07.

:bulletorange: I'm writing a novel (well I've been a wannabe novelist here for so long I finally changed it to novelist just to get myself going). It's a story about failed relationships and making amends I've been carrying around in my head for a really long time, but things never really felt right upon writing it. So today I tried something new - writing in Norwegian. And out poured a perfect chapter. Or atleast a perfect first draft of a chapter. Believe it or not, I have never written anything in my mother toungue, I have a far better vocabulary in English so tend to stick with that. But it seems to be working so far. Not sure what laguage the book will end up now, as I'll have to do some translating no matter what I do.

:bulletgreen: There's been an election in Norway, and I feel sad. My dear Liberal democratic party fell to under 4%. I may cry. (This is where I should probably add that we have a multiparty system in Norway, and 8 main parties. 4% can happen to some smaller parties)
*sniffle* I may have to become politically active just to prevent this from ever happening again.

:bulletorange: So, how's life? Want a feature? Stumbled upon anything really good that needs to be shared lately? Have a writing prompt for me?

September.

EDIT: I don't understand the new system for journal skins. Enlighten me someone pwease? There used to be a section where you put in the code but it's, um, gone...?

EDIT#2 Ok. Found it. I was being slow. As per usual. *sigh*

First: a rant

Either I aged tremendously while I was away, or. Or nothing really.

Why does every 'new' writer I stumble upon (I'm trying to find more people to watch) seem to hold grammar and form in complete disregard, whilst simultaneously being allergic to capital letters?

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH CAPS AND THEY ARE NOT OPTIONAL DAMN YOU

And no one seems to want to improve either, and even fewer seem to say anything constructive in their comments. Welcome to the world of big fat generalisations.

But still? What's with people?

(if I do still follow you despite lack of caps, it means you must be good enough to make me forget my boundless annoyance. Good for you)

And now

A feature!

~Inallgoodtime Go read some good poetry. Go on. I know you want to.
What's that? Too many poems and you have no idea where to start? He is prolific, I know. Oh well, I'll give you somewhere to start. [link] [link] [link] and especially [link]

(I can't get thumbs to work. Do I need to get that pesky subscription back for that?)

Other stuff

:bulletgreen: I'm coming up to 7000 page views in a day or so. I feel this warrants some sort of celebration

:bulletgreen: If I should suddenly disappear for weeks on end it's because I'm going into the Navy for a year and have no idea how free time and internet access etc will impact on my activity levels. I'll still be around.

In some Chicago suburb, expanded,

.. I sit on my bed, listening to Dateline roll over the screen of my grandmothers' bedside tv in the neighbouring room. Well into my second week here and I haven't called my mother yet, and I can notice myself slipping. Into this way of living. Someone elses 9 -5 suddenly seems normal (and desirable, oh my)

I'm rambling.

ok, let's get down to business:
:bulletred: Hello all the lovely random people I now watch! I'm giving you a trial run. If things don't work out between us I'd like you to know that it was nothing personal. Well. It probably was. Just don't take it personally? Comprendre?

:bulletred: I twitter. Do you twitter? I'd like some more people to watch on twitter, so let me know who you are so I can stalk, ehrm, follow, you. In return, I'll keep you posted on exactly how bored I am at work.

:bulletred: I bought the elements of style by Strunk&White today. I may go on a writing spree tp try out whatever I gather from it. We'll see.

:bulletred: I lost my credit card. Stupid. Makes it hard to buy a subscription.

. On a side note, I'm addicted to fried dough. mmmmmmm.

EDIT:

:bulletblue: I'm going on a contest entry spree. Bear with me.

:bulletblue: The worst part of writing is coming up with good titles. Suggestions? (Nothing too wacky or more than a sentence long though)

:bulletblue: I've read through my oldest stuff and concluded that 50% showed potential, and the other 50 was just plain awful. I have no idea how I got both a DD and a daily deviants feature with that gallery. Major revamping to come (I think I'll put the worst in some "I was new to the whole writing readable stuff thing" gallery)

:bulletblue: I love cats. I have one on my lap right now, and she's been following me around all night waiting for me to sit down so she can cuddle with me.
Her name is Magic, which she is.

This is going to take some explaining isn't it..?

A very long story short, a lot of things went wrong. And I've never worked up the nerve to come back, but with my 20th birthday looming I figured it was time to grow up. Take the blame, pay my dues. And prizes (god yes, contest prizes, send me a note if I owe you one, I'll start digging in my hundreds of messages and notes soon to find you if not)

I don't expect to be welcomed back with open arms just yet. It's easy to forget that internet people are also people, but that's no valid excuse.

I just wanted to tell you how truly, truly sorry I am.

I'm back. But no promises until I trust myself again.

:new: I'm posting links to all my NaPoWriMo poems at the bottom of this journal!

Mudkip?

Well as a matter of fact, I do like Mudkip. But how did my secret-under-the-covers-late-at-night playing of pokémon get known to all of dA? I wonder..

NaPoWriMo

Yes yes, I'm in. Regretting it already! I've decided to post all my lousy poetry as scraps, and some of the more acceptable ones as deviations. And it's not even a stupid April Fools thing.
